Yes to the Dress: FLX Unity Center Helps Geneva Youth Shine at Prom

Prom dresses in a rowCome prom time, Geneva youth will be stepping out in style, thanks to a formal wear initiative launched by the team at FLX Unity Center, home to EPIC Zone Geneva. Thanks to generous community support, the team has collected more than 2 dozen donated dresses in a variety of styles and sizes.

On Friday, March 20, our staff will host a “Yes to the Dress: Prom Edition,” event from 2-7 p.m. During this time, our EPIC Zone members will have the first opportunity to select a dress. Any remaining dresses will then be made available to the broader community on Saturday, March 21, from 2-4 p.m.

More Than a Dress

The initiative reflects a deeper mission at the heart of everything our team does.

“This effort was inspired by our ongoing commitment to removing barriers for young people and creating opportunities for them to feel confident, celebrated, and included during milestone moments like prom,” said Allauna Overstreet-Gibson, EPIC Zone Geneva program coordinator and director of FLX Unity Center. “We recognize that prom expenses can add up quickly, and we wanted to create a way for students to access something special at no cost.”

A huge shoutout to everyone in the community who donated. Your generosity is making a real difference in the lives of local youth.
