The youth at EPIC Zone Geneva have been busy making music the last couple of weeks. In partnership with The Ponte Collective, EZ Geneva hosted three workshops:

• • July 20: Movement in Western Music with Keanu Reedz

• • July 24: Make a Song with James Eddington

• • July 27: Performance Debut with Pablo Falbru

Although the first workshop started off a little slow, things were clicking by the second. “One of our Spanish-speaking members recorded vocals and learned how to mix music, which was awesome to watch,” said Allauna Overstreet-Gibson, program coordinator at EPIC Zone Geneva.

At the final workshop, Overstreet-Gibson walked in from directing the FLX Unity Center camp to find staff member Velour and five youth members belting “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton.

“It was one of those moments that reminded me why these opportunities matter. Needless to say, they certainly don’t need me around to have a great time! The members are building strong relationships with one another, everyone seems to be working well together,” she said.
