Turning Love and Loss Into Action: Eddinger Memorial Tournament Supports Suicide Prevention

Community impact often begins with one person’s or family’s commitment to making a difference.

Ontario Cares is deeply grateful to the Eddinger family for their continued generosity and dedication to suicide prevention in our community. This year’s Joseph M. Eddinger Memorial Golf Tournament raised more than $26,600, bringing the tournament’s total impact to an incredible $94,800 since it began.

Strengthening Suicide Prevention in Ontario County

From this year’s tournament, $23,500 was generously donated to support the Ontario Cares Suicide Prevention Coalition. These funds will directly strengthen education, resources, and community-based support for individuals and families across Ontario County—helping ensure that prevention, awareness, and connection remain accessible when they are needed most.

The Suicide Prevention Coalition works to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and provide tools that empower people to recognize warning signs, seek help, and support one another. Contributions like this make it possible to expand outreach, enhance training, and sustain critical prevention efforts throughout the year.

A Legacy of Hope

The Joseph M. Eddinger Memorial Golf Tournament is a powerful reminder of how love and loss can be transformed into meaningful action. Through their ongoing commitment, the Eddinger family has created a lasting legacy—one that continues to inspire hope and care for so many.

We are honored to partner with the Eddinger family in this important work, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, sponsored, and supported this year’s tournament.

Together, we are building a community where no one has to face their struggles alone.
