Ontario Cares and FLX Unity Center Forge Partnership to Strengthen Youth and Family Support in Geneva
GENEVA, NY — Ontario Cares (The Partnership for Ontario County) and FLX Unity Center are proud to announce a dynamic new partnership that will expand services and strengthen support for youth and families in Geneva.
Together, these organizations are combining their expertise and passion to create a shared vision of community connection, empowerment, and inclusion. With this new partnership, the building recently purchased by Ontario Cares at 81 North Street in Geneva, the future home of the organization’s established teen drop-in program Epic Zone, will also be the new home of FLX Unity Center.
“This partnership reflects what both organizations value most: supporting young people in ways that uplift the entire community,” said Gwen Van Laeken, executive director of Ontario Cares. “By joining forces with FLX Unity Center, we’re able to expand our reach and enhance our ability to meet families where they are.”
Geneva Supervisor Jim Kennedy added,
“Location, floor plan, and programming potential both inside and out are the factors that captured my attention and positive vote in favor of this youth-centered facility and community-centered location. I’m encouraged by the development of the Clark Optical building under Gwen Van Laeken’s leadership and in collaboration with Geneva’s community groups.”
Allauna Overstreet-Gibson, co-founder of FLX Unity Center and program coordinator at EPIC Zone Geneva shared,
“With our experience, knowledge, and the support of the Geneva community and Ontario Cares’ Youth Clubhouse, FLX Unity Center will not only nurture the natural growth and development of teens, but it will also bridge cultures and generations by fostering valuable relationships through collaborative programming. This work will be a significant asset to Ward 5 and those with limited resources. I’m confident that, through unity, communication, and transparency, this partnership will provide meaningful events and programming while serving as an important resource for Geneva’s underserved youth. I commend Ontario Cares for this opportunity.”
A primary goal for this partnership is to expand access to education, mentoring, creative arts, and wellness programs to build a stronger, more connected community.
