EPIC Zone Geneva Youth Drop-In Center Finds a New Home

GENEVA – Ontario Cares (The Partnership for Ontario County) is excited to announce the purchase of a new home for EPIC Zone, a youth drop-in center serving teens ages 12–17 in the Geneva area. The new facility at 81 North Street marks an important milestone in expanding opportunities for youth and families.

Since opening in 2016, EPIC Zone has served more than 700 youth and provided a welcoming space for activities, meals, field trips, homework help, and skill-building. “This new space represents the heart of what Ontario Cares stands for, which creates opportunities for connection, growth, and belonging,” said Gwen Van Laeken, executive director of Ontario Cares.

With the purchase of the new building, Ontario Cares is partnering with Geneva-based FLX Unity Center to expand programming. FLX Unity Center is a hyperlocal nonprofit organization dedicated to community connection and empowerment co-founded by Geneva natives Brianna Johnson-Whitfield and Allauna Overstreet-Gibson.

“The new facility will be an innovative community hub that provides a much-needed safe space for teens and young adults to vibe and grow intellectually and emotionally,” said Overstreet-Gibson, who is also the program coordinator at EPIC Zone.

Operated under Ontario Cares, EPIC Zone empowers youth through programming shaped by their voices and ideas. The organization plans to fundraise for renovations that will enhance the space for both youth and the greater community.

To celebrate, Ontario Cares will host an Open House on Monday, Dec. 2 from 4-7 p.m. at the new EPIC Zone building. The public is invited to tour the facility, meet staff, and learn about upcoming programs and partnerships. The event also falls on Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity, making it an ideal time to experience EPIC Zone’s impact firsthand and learn how to
support our mission.
