What does “Epic” mean?
Great question! It signifies that this is a place to embrace Enrichment, Prevention, Individuality, and Community.
What is it?
EPIC Zone is a youth drop‑in center with welcoming locations on Worthington Avenue in Geneva and East Main Street in Bloomfield. But we’re much more than a space—we’re a development‑focused program designed to nurture healthy growth in individuals aged 12–17.
Who is it for?
Any youth age 12-17 is welcome. We serve the Geneva and Bloomfield areas.
What kinds of services or activities do you provide?
EPIC Zone provides a rich variety of pro-social recreation, peer-based support, educational programming, wellness initiatives, and skill-building activities. We ground our services in research-based approaches, specifically, the Developmental Relationships Framework and select elements of the 40 Developmental Assets Framework, both developed by the Search Institute. By delivering programming through these combined, evidence-based practices, EPIC Zone not only creates engaging experiences but also lays a foundation for lasting positive development and holistic well-being
Why do youth love it?
Youth are drawn to EPIC Zone because it offers so much more than just a place to hang out, it’s a nurturing environment where they feel truly seen, heard, and empowered.
EPIC Zone provides a physically safe and emotionally welcoming environment. It’s a place where belonging, peer bonding, and meaningful interactions are part of the everyday experience.
Young people value that at EPIC Zone, their ideas genuinely matter. They are invited not just to attend but to help create, shaping programs and decisions with adult allies.
What do you do there?
Play basketball, hang out with friends, play games, video game, talk about a lot of things, laugh, cook, learn, try new things. It’s different everyday, but there is consistency as well.
What’s a level?
A level is a structured consequence system designed to help youth understand and adjust behavior when expectations aren’t met. At EPIC Zone, clear behavior expectations ensure everyone’s safety and maintain a respectful, problem‑free environment.
Typically, failing to meet expectations results in a level referral—a chance to reflect and adjust, rather than punishment. If a youth struggles to regulate their behavior, they may be asked to leave temporarily. Upon return, staff members engage with them one-on-one to:
Reflect on the behavior and its impact
Discuss better strategies for self-control
Reinforce why the behavior was unacceptable
Support the youth in moving forward positively from the incident
.
Are there rules?
Yes, rules keep everyone safe and allow us to thrive together in a respectful, supportive space.
Can I get help with schoolwork?
Absolutely! Our staff are here to support you. Whether you need help right away or assistance in finding the right resources, we’ve got you covered.
What do you talk about?
At EPIC Zone, we talk about anything that matters to you. Whether it’s school, friends, music, or challenges at home, nothing is off-limits. Our conversations happen naturally, so whatever comes up is fair game. Plus, we sometimes invite guest speakers or community experts who help you think through future decisions and possibilities.
This space is all about being real. You have the freedom to say what’s on your mind, and our staff will listen without judgment. We don’t just hear you, we help you explore different sides of things, so you feel understood and supported.
Who is there?
At EPIC Zone, you’ll find youth just like you, as well as our staff. It’s a place full of familiar faces, such as friends you already know, and new ones you’ll meet. Whether you’re reconnecting or making new connections, everyone’s welcome and belongs here.
Is there food?
Absolutely! We offer snacks and even make dinner for everyone who’s there. It’s not just about eating, though. Being part of meal prep and clean‑up lets you build responsibility, practice teamwork, and learn practical life skills while enjoying food together.

You’re welcome to come by whenever EPIC Zone is open! Stay for as long or as little as you like. It’s entirely up to you. It’s always your choice whether to come in or head back home.
Do I have to do things if I don’t want to?
You don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with, but trying something new can sometimes lead to fun surprises or new interests.
