About the Court

Judge

The Judge presides over each case and sets the tone for the hearing. They oversee courtroom proceedings, maintain order, and ensure fairness throughout. The Judge summarizes the case, reads the applicable penal law, and carefully listens to all parties. They may call upon the Bailiff as needed and are expected to remain impartial at all times.

Prosecution

The Prosecutor represents the interests of the state, community, or public. Their role is to present the case against the respondent by emphasizing the impact of the offense and arguing for appropriate sanctions. The Prosecutor seeks to hold the respondent accountable while ensuring the process remains fair and just.

Jury

The Jury is responsible for carefully listening to the case and considering all evidence presented. Jurors may ask questions through the Judge, deliberate as a group, and work together to determine a fair and balanced sanction for the respondent. They are expected to remain impartial and thoughtful throughout the process.

Bailiff

The Bailiff assists with courtroom procedures and ensures order is maintained. Their responsibilities include escorting respondents or parents to and from the witness stand, administering the oath, returning them to counsel, and escorting the Jury to and from deliberation.

Defense

The Defense represents the respondent and works to highlight their positive qualities and personal strengths. Their role is to build the respondent’s character, provide context for their actions, and advocate for fair and reasonable sanctions. The Defense seeks to ensure the respondent is treated justly while emphasizing opportunities for growth and rehabilitation.

Jury Foreperson

The Jury Foreperson leads the jury in deliberations, represents the jury during proceedings, and is responsible for reading the determined sanctions in the courtroom.
